A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
Sharing the document in PDF format would be another workaround. Of course, that won't help if the file you send to the client must be editable.

The initials field in the General Display section will not display my initials when I use the comment ballons. The user name field updates, but the initials field will not update. I'm using Word 2013. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Okay, so when working on a document that won't be printed, I have a problem. I am an editor, and I have a client who requests that specific initials are to be used so that the comments of each user can be easily identified. My solution so far has been to use the required initials in the user name and initials fields. Any other suggests? Thank you so much for your help.
OK, I see what you mean. What you see is by design in Word 2013. In Print Layout view, Word shows user names instead of initials but in Print Preview (Ctrl+P) and after printing what you see are initials followed by a number.
Hi, Stephan:
Yes, I have changed the initials setting from the File tab, and I'm not saving to OneDrive. What appears to be happening is that the User Name field is acting as if it is the Initials field. So when I add a comment, my user name is attached instead of my initials.
Have you changed the "Initials" setting at File tab | Options | General? In case you are saving to OneDrive, you should also select "Always use these values regardless of sign in to Office" before clicking OK.
