Hi there,

I have asked a question regarding the "current user filter" before but have had no success in finding an answer. This time I'll keep my question more broad... could someone please explain how the current user filter works and how it can be used to restrict which documents certain people see (if it can be used to do this?!)

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

    hi purura

we can configure a filter web part to pass a value to a list view web part, and then change the view of data in the list/library based on the value.

the way the current user filter web part works is that it looks at who the current logged in user is, and looks at the values in their profile properties such as name, department, etc. you pick one profile property to look up, and then connect to another web part to send filter information or parameters to filter the destined column. below is an example that i send current logged in user’s name property to filter modified by column in a document library.
