How to add custom paper size in Excel 2016 (mac)

In Excel 2011 I would create custom page sizes for my projects; this allowed me to create PDF's with any size I create for it (say 297mm x 2000 mm) — this is essential in my workflow for creating client reports.

This functionality seems to be disappeared in 2016 :(. The only place I can add a 'custom page size' is in the print settings, but this does not affect my actual sheet size (which stays on any off the default page sizes). This results in my 'design' spreading all over different pages.

Please help, as this affects my whole business.

Looking forward.

I found this, it may help:

In this case, I am printing on a 4x6" label printer. I leave everything formatted as 8.5x11 and then go to print. I changed the print option to the paper handling section, check the scale to fit paper size box. And then change the destination paper size to the one I want. If you scroll to the bottom of the list you should be able to find your custom size.

Warranted, this is biggest failure of office 2016 and this solution is the most techneck i have seen in a while. But, it worked for me, so hopefully it helps you and any body else that stumbles into this solution.

I have the same issue. What other users kindly described won't work for me either.

I need to print on a 36" (914mm) wide roll. Excel 2016 will reduce the print size to 22%. As a workaround I must print the file by using the older 2011 version. I was so lucky that I did purchase it years ago.

But this sounds pretty microsoftish! In this case I'd support those who will install a copy of Office 2011 even if not purchased.

The two versions share the custom paper size settings. While Office 2011 actually lets the print area fit the sheet, Office 2016 won't. More deeply, as far as I noticed, I'd say that Office 2016 only shrinks the printed area, while Office 2011 both shrinks and expands it.

As I asked for official support, the chat "technician" said that nothing can be done without first uninstalling and reinstalling the software. I find this solution&technician completely mad: I cannot do this before changing a single setting!

I just ran into this issue.

    My solution was:

    1. Open the excel file in Google Sheets
    2. Once in Google Sheets, go to Print
    3. In the print options, set the paper size you need and select "fit contents" (it'll let you set whatever paper size you need and fit the entire content in one page)
    4. Print as PDF
    5. Open the PDF and print from it (Open it in Photoshop or Illustrator for best results).
    6. Suggest Microsoft to fix the issue :)

Same Problem. This is a terrible BUG, because as professionals we print large worksheets such as DIN A0 or custom like 900x1800mm. In fact in Excel 2016 it is impossible to have a custom page size, and the maximum page size is DIN A3, which is just ridiculous for professional use!

Or IT specialist found out that this bug does not exist on Office 2016 for Windows!!!!

BTW it worked without any problems on Office for Mac 2011!!!!

We just updated 15 workstations to Office 365....please help!

How can Microsoft be so amateur-like so un-professional so un-serious????

It does not work; it is not possible to set up a big page size in Excel because there are only given formats. This BUG has no workaround and knowing Microsoft; I think they will not solve it soon, this is incredible! This is an incredible failure of a professional software. The Microsoft developers think that Excel Users only print small worksheets...., this is just ridiculous!
