Cached exchange mode causing problems

Hi,

I work for a company who are having a lot of issues with people using cached exchange mode where they cannot create folders and emails coming in stop working on there shared inbox. For some people it works fine. Others seem to struggle doing the above tasks.

We have tried creating new profiles ect. but nothing seems to work. The shared inboxes are pretty big 30-40GB each which they are running 2-3 so if they run without cached exchange then outlook becomes extremely slow.

Thanks

    Hi OliverMunday,

If you don’t want to delete emails, you may also try to enable online archiving for the users and then let them move emails to the archive mailbox (an archive mailbox has 50GB storage by default).

If the issue persists after that, let us know and we will assist you further.

    Regards,

    Larry

So because the mailboxes are to big this is leading to users unable to create new folders while in cached exchange mode? The only way around this is to delete emails and nothing else?

The user likes the speed of cached exchange but they cant make new folders on the shared mail boxes. but when they turn off cached exchange outlook becomes very slow.

I'm saying this because deleting emails and having to recover them for everyone would cause us a much bigger headache than the user having lag without cached exchange on there outlook.

    Hi OliverMunday,

This may because the shared boxes’ size is too large. By default, the shared box items are downloaded into your local cache OST file if your Office 365 mailbox is configured in Exchange cached mode. A too big OST often leads to bad Outlook performance.

To determine this, please try to export the shared items to a PST file as backup and then delete some old items to reduce the size. After that, you can also let the users view shared items via opening the PST file in the Outlook client. Feel free to let us know if you encounter any problem during the progress.

If the issue persists after that, please let us know and we will further investigate it.

    Regards,

    Larry
