MS Project Summary Task - Renaming

Hi

I am trying to rename the Project Summary Task which at the moment picks the same name as the project file name.

I tried the following:

  1. double click on task 0 and Summary Task Information box pops up and I changed the name under the General Tab
  2. I also tried changing via the Advanced Properties dialog box

Saved the file and re-opended for both cases above the Project Summary Task (0) reverted back to the original name which is the project file name.

Looks both steps did not save the changes...any clues anybody? or where I am going wrong??

    Hi Dale

    Thank you for your prompt reply. Much appreciated for your answer and have resigned as u said to fact that this is a bug. At one point I was frustrated as to why things are not working as they are supposed to and I felt I lack the understanding. Feel better now knowing that I was on the right track  in the first place.

    Thanks a lot...until I come across another issue....

    You are not doing anything wrong.  In fact, you are doing everything right.  What you have encountered is a known bug in Microsoft Project 2013 that has not yet been fixed.  I am not able to find any way to work around this bug.  No matter how I change the name of the Project Summary Task, it always reverts back to the name of the project file after saving it, closing it, and reopening it.  So, the best I can tell you is to live with it until Microsoft fixes the bug.  Hope this helps.
