Hi

I get an immediate error when attempting to install Office365 ProPlus using the Office Deployment Tool.

I have run the /download parameter successfully. It's /configure that creates the error.

Config file:

<Configuration>

<!-- <Add SourcePath="\AKPC100\Office365Installer" OfficeClientEdition="32" >

<Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">

<Language ID="en-us" />

</Product>

</Add> -->

<!-- <Updates Enabled="TRUE" /> -->

<!-- <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" /> -->

<!-- <Logging Name="OfficeSetup.txt" Logging Path="%temp%" /> -->

<!-- <Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" /> -->

</Configuration>

(AKPC100 is the local machine)

    The config.xml files are way too picky with too much incorrect documentation and no usable error return codes. I've been playing with this for a day and a half and swapping the OfficeClientEdition and SourcePath specifiers on the line - in direct contrast to every documented reference I found - was the final solution...

    And, at least as far as I can tell, the deployment files are all the same, the xml makes the difference - and the one above works for Business versions, just replace O365 ProPlusRetail with O365BusinessRetail for Business or Business Premium..

    Oh, and thank you, by the way !! (about a hundred times)  WJ

    Hi

    I solved it by changing my configuration.xml file to the following

    <Configuration>

    <Add OfficeClientEdition="32" SourcePath="\AKPC100\Office365Installer">

    <Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">

    <Language ID="en-us"/>

    </Product>

    </Add>

    <Updates Enabled="TRUE" UpdatePath=""/>

    <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE"/>

    <Logging Name="OfficeSetup.txt" Path="C:\TEMP"/>

    </Configuration>

    thanks

    hi nathan,

    firstly, please note that there are a lot of comment signs in your configuration xml file. please delete them and check again.

    the correct format is like this:

    if that is not the cause, let’s move forward.

    from the log, i have found this error “errormessage":"unexpectederror (configureupdatessettings::handlestateaction unable to find a client installed at: c:\program files\microsoft office 15\clientx64)"”

    based on some research, normally, this error is resulted by the incorrect source path. you mentioned the akpc100 is the local machine, is it the server machine or end user’s local machine? since you are configuring the office, it should be the end user’s local path. could you confirm it?

    additionally, could you check if the path of the source files for cap is *c:...\office\data* ? here is a similar thread for the reference:

    https://community.office365.com/en-us/f/156/t/159359

    please let me know the updates at your convenience.

    thanks,

    iris
