Microsoft Upload Center Cache Error

Anonymous
2016-04-07T11:45:24+00:00

Every time I attempt to access a document in my synced OneDrive for Business or SharePoint library folders, I receive an error stating "The Microsoft Office Upload Center found a problem while accessing the Microsoft Office Document Cache and needs to repair it before it can continue. As part of the repair a copy of the cache will be saved as backup and a new cache will be created." Once I tell it to repair, I get an error stating "This action cannot be completed because another application is using the Microsoft Office Document Cache. Please close all Microsoft Office applications or restart your computer and try again."  This is on a machine running Windows 10 and Office 2013.

Things I've already tried:

-Clean boot (nothing but the bare essentials on startup)

-Deleting the caches

-Quick Office Repair

-Online Office Repair

-Complete reload of all 365 products

    Hi Hilary,

You can try the fix it tool in this article to remove the cache of OneDrive for Business, and then check the outcome.

Note:Please back up those important files. It may take some time finish the process.

If the issue persists, I’d like to confirm the following things for further investigation:

1.Open one of the Office applications>File>Account>capture a screenshot of Product Information.

2.Check the version of OneDrive for Business. Please also follow the steps in the article below to check the version of Microsoft Office Document Cache (MSOSYNC.EXE)

How to determine the version of OneDrive for Business Sync client

3.The screenshot of the error message. Moreover, is there a yellow mark on the OneDrive for Business icon in the task bar? When you right-click the icon, can you click View sync problems? If yes, please also capture a screenshot of the pop-up.

4.If it’s convenient, can you change to another computer and sync your OneDrive for Business library to see the result. Meanwhile, does OneDrive for Business work well before? When do you encounter this issue, after updating the Office or Windows?

    Thanks for your time.

    Tim

    4. open task manager and make sure msosync.exe and msouc.exe are not listed in the processes tab. if listed, click end task.
    5. uninstall the onedrive for business application from control panel. if it’s installed together with office 2013, please uninstall the office suite.
    6. delete the following folder:

    c:\users<user>\appdata\local\microsoft\office\15.0

note: the appdata folder is a hidden by default.

    1. open the registry editor (win + r > run > regedit) and delete the following registry keys:

    b. hkey_local_machine \software\wow6432node\microsoft\office\15.0

    c. hkey_current_user \software\wow6432node\microsoft\office\15.0

this issue is persisting, and continuing to get worse. i get a pop up from the cache every 30-60 seconds now.

    1.

    1. onedrive version is 15.0.485.1000
    2. onedrive worked fine until late last week. i do not know of any updates, either to windows or to my office programs, that caused this.
