New SharePoint Layout - Columns and Wrapping Text

Using the new SharePoint layout in a library or a list, I do not know how to control the width of the columns or how to enable text to "wrap" rather than hide behind a column.  I know that one can drag the column to resize, but this does not appear to be saved and the next time I use the library or list the columns have moved to their original position.

Does anyone know which setting is used to fix this issue?

    Hi Elizabeth,

Unlike the classic experience of SharePoint Online list, in the new experience, the text in a list column will not wrap unless we choose Multiple lines of text when creating the column (and select Enhanced rich text in Additional Column Settings).

In the new experience, the column width will not save based on the last change we made.

To see all the content in a column, we can select the item and click Open the details pane button on the right.

Given this, I would suggest you vote in the uservoice link below or you may post a new idea.

Possibility to choose to wrap text of column text (header but also the text in the datafields)

    Regards,

    James

Yet another issue with the obviously untested "new" experience.  WHEN WILL MSFT REALIZE THIS HAS BEEN FORCED ONTO PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENTS IN AN UNFINISHED STATE AND RETRACT THIS DISASTER??

    Hi David,

The length of a single line of text column does have no options to configure in new experience view.

Given the situation, we would suggest you submit the feedback via Uservoice. Understanding your experience helps us to make our product and service better for you and others.

    Thanks for your understanding,

    Kimi

...or just avoid the new experience altogether until it's properly designed and fully tested.
