That's the way you would do it in Excel, and maybe that would be a good choice for you.
Access is not Excel on steroids, and your comment "Have no idea what a relational db is" means you either learn it, or abandon it. Having an incorrect database design is "the gift that keeps on giving" and you really cannot build a successful application on it.
Unlike the other Office products - say PowerPoint, which you can just open and start hacking away at, Access is not such a product. It requires study and knowledge before you can do even one thing right.
So while we don't want to discourage anyone from taking up Access, it's time to fish or cut bait.
