    Alternate method is a macro

    Sub Cubic_Meters()

        Selection.NumberFormat = "0"" m" & Chr(179) & """"

    End Sub

    Select the number cells and run the macro.

    Or sheet event code for automatic when hit Enter key after input

    Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)

    If Target.Column > 3 Then Exit Sub  'limited to columns A:C

        With Target

            .NumberFormat = "0"" m" & Chr(179) & """"

        End With

    End Sub

    Gord

    Dear Ketul, I am very delighted with your response to my problem. I have immediately opened my relevant spreadsheet, implemented the steps you have outlined and 'hey presto' my readings from the invoices are now shown in m³. I have actually prepared the proper display of the cubic meter symbol by creating it on an empty page by tranfering it from the 'add symbol' section in WORD and then copy/paste it into the relevant place in Excel.

    This is my first go at asking for help in the microsoft forum and I am very pleased with the result.

    Thanks again
