Excel : Change default of Bottom Border to All Borders under Home tab / Font

Greetings,

I am unsure if this has a solution. On Microsoft Excel when i want to set a border to my cells, I quickly go upto the Font section of the Home tab and select a border from there. However if I directly click on this button it sets only Bottom Border which is the default. Hence each time with a new sheet I have to click on its drop down arrow and select All Borders.

Is it possible to set the default to All Borders. So that in a new sheet, I select my cells and just do a simple click on the Borders button on the Font section of Home tab and do not need to click on drop down?

    Hi

    Workaround: Add the "All borders" to the Quick access toolbar

    I don't run an EN version of Excel so not sure of the below terms in the user interface:

    • Click the arrow down "small icon" on the right side of the Border "menu"

    • Right click on All borders
    • Select the 1st option that says something like Add to Quick Access Toolbar

    (Running Excel 2016: closing then reopening it => All borders is still in the Quick access toolbar)

    EDIT: Forgot to say that the Quick access toolbar can be moved below the ribbon (at least in Office 2016)...

    Any reply would be appreciated. This shouldn't be too much to expect from a Microsoft Office application. At least a workaround should be there. Thanks

    You are too good! I knew this wouldn't be so difficult to call for a macro recording or customization etc. I had hoped this to be as easy as you mentioned. It worked like charm!

    Glad and could help.

    In the meantime I went a step further and with Excel 2016 I got what you want in the Ribbon.

    Below picture is the right side of my ribbon where you see a "Custom" group with 2 shortucts/commands I added for this testing this.

    • File > Options > Customize Ribbon
    • On the right side click (don't uncheck) on the Home tab

    • At the bottom of the dialog box click the New group button
    • Right click it and give it the name you want
    • On the right side, select All commands in the Choose commands from (at the top of the dialog box)

    • Look for All borders in the list and highlight it
    • Make sure your newly created group is still highlighted on the right size (otherwise highlight it and re-highlight the All borders command on the left side) then click the Add button in the middle of the dialog box
    • OK

    Works with Excel 2013?

    EDIT: Just found a little bug re-doing it. Still works though

    And a Custom Police groupe replacing the original one. It's a bit disorganized due to the size of the "box" that ovbiously can't be changed:

    One thing though. If you add the Borders group to a custom group you can no longer add the All borders individual command.
