Excel - Formulas don't copy -- only values

When I copy a single cell or a range of cells, the cell(s) to which I paste contain only values. The formulas do not copy. This happens whether I use Command-C/Command-V or the menus (Edit>Paste). If I use the menus and select Edit>Paste Special, the box that comes up looks more like the box from MS Word (see below), and only gives me the option to paste Text.

I uninstalled and re-installed Office, but nothing changed. Technical support could not help (unless I wanted to pay $99 for one month of support or $149 for one year of support).

How do I fix this?

Thanks, but shouldn't multiple applications be able to share the same clipboard without screwing each other up? I am sending a note to ******@monosnap.com as soon as I post this.

Assuming this is the application/situation creating my problem, is there a way to "clear the clipboard" after using an offending application (other than rebooting!)?

I'm not qualified to address the specifics, but all software interacts with the OS & has the potential to interfere with other software as well as the OS, itself. That's why I suggested contacting the developers of the utility.

To clear the clipboard simply select a space or something trivial and copy it.

To see what's currently on the clipboard, in Finder choose Edit > Show Clipboard.

Thanks for the tip on viewing the clipboard. I didn't know you could do that.

I haven't heard back from Monosnap's support people, but clearly, that app was a culprit. Just last night, I found that another app I have been using all of the time caused the same problem: Get Plain Text (a great app that clears formatting from text copied to the clipboard). I was using that because if I copy a block of text from a website and paste it into TextEdit, I usually just want the text. Notepad in Windows does this, but TextEdit on the Mac keeps formatting.

Anyway, I will be abandoning Get Plain Text as well as Monosnap, since both cause this problem in Office.
