How to update real time in excel

We were told to remake this excel file. The sheet should update the numerical information when a number is given above(like 152 on the image). We are supposed to fetch data and from a different work sheet and display the sum in the boxes. How can I do it?

    OK, so for cell I8, from the sample image (your screenshot) you know you need to get an answer of 6752

    This represents: Total Number of Resident Students in School District

    So you need to find how many resident students are in Moorhead, (because Moorhead = 152 from the first formula) by using a formula on the DataSrv and/or DataRes sheets . . .

    Below are the formulas

    For Total Number of Resident Students in School District

    =COUNTIF(DataRes!$A$5:$A$10454,'Students Entering District'!$A$1)

    Total Number of Students Served by the School District

    =COUNTIF(DataSrv!$A$5:$A$10260,$A$1)

    Let me know how to identify following -

    Students Leaving District; total and percent expressed as a percentage of resident students

    Students Entering District; total and percent expressed as a percentage of resident students

    Also let me know what other formulas you need.

    The formula you just posted just counts the schools in a district. It does not add up the students/ residents in the district. The total number of residents should be 6752, but with this formula, it shows it's 31. You can use the picture I posted first to see what it looks like.

    Can you give me the logic for 6752? I mean what filters to apply to get this number. Then I will be able to understand your way of solution and will create formula..
