Cannot see "insert" control in Excel developer tab?

Hi, I have Excel for Mac version 15.39.

I want to add a check button to a worksheet but from searching help it seems I need to do it by inserting a control if I want to be able to resize it.

I can't see the "insert" button in the control area of my developer tab or find how to add it.

Any ideas?

What you read pertains to Excel for Windows. ActiveX never has been supported on Macs & Content Controls have not yet been implemented in Mac Office.

Unless there is a VBA method the size of Check Box Form Field elements cannot be changed or formatted.

Yes, the Ribbon in your screen shot is that of a Windows version. The tool appears as a singular Insert button because the window shown is not sized sufficiently wide to allow the group of tools to expand... It's one of those that expands/condenses based on available space. If the window were wider the singular tool would grow to display as a Group containing the 3 categories of controls tools: Content Controls, ActiveX Controls, Legacy Form Fields.

Since Mac Office provides only Legacy Form Fields there is only the one small group to be displayed. The window typically is wide enough to display the entire group, but will condense if the width of the window is narrowed significantly.

    Hi Geraint,

Based on your description, you would like to a check button in Excel 2016 for Mac. You can select the control and drag the size to worksheet directly.

For more related information, you can refer to this article: Assign a macro to a button
