Hello KerryMurphy. Try this. Click File > Options > Customize Ribbon on the left. Now look over to the right and you will see Developer. Please check it.
My Developer Tab in Excel/Export button is greyed out

Those buttons are for working with XML data
If your spreadsheet doesn't contain XML data then the export feature won't be available.
Try File - Save As - XML Data

2018-07-11T13:27:16+00:00 It's an excel spreadsheet that I'm exporting as XML. I can't ungrey the Export button. I do this same project 2x/year and did not have an issue in January.
