text highlight color keystroke

I am using the newest Word. I am trying to create a macro that would highlight text and make the text highlighted with green highlight. I know to press CTRL+ALT+H to highlight the text and that keyboard combo will highlight the text with color. However it will not let me choose what color I want the text highlight I want it to be. The first time I use it with the CTRL+ALT+H, I will get a random color. It will stay the same color each time I do CTRL+ALT+H until I manually change it. To change it, I have to click the text highlight and then click the green color. Then from then on, it will highlight the text in green. That is fine but yet it is not. If I use a different color in a different doc or in this form, I have to remember to switch it back. That defeats the purpose of the macro. Is there a way to activate the color menu using keyboard where I can use the arrow key and select the color?

Thank you for your time.

Hello Jesse. When you record the macro, if you type text, it will record the typed text. So you want the text typed before recording the macro.

Concerning your date, if you want the macro to include the date, record the macro, put in the date, I'm guessing you are using Insert > Date & Time, use the highlighter on the text already typed and stop recording the macro.

Let me know if you need more help or that isn't what you are looking for. Another thought I had is to add the Highlight to the Quick Access Toolbar. To access it you would use ALT + the number. That would keep you from using the mouse. The only issue with that is you would have to set it to green the 1st time. One screenshot attached.

    Alt+H, I

will do the same thing, without adding to the QAT.

That's Alt and H pressed together, followed by I.

From there, you can use the arrow keys to pick a color. The default is yellow.
