Why the Teams client keeps using the microphone after calls are finished? is it evesdropping?

Everytime I finish a call on Teams I need to fully the close the client because Teams client keeps using my microphone. Not sure if this is a simple bug or it is evesdropping what you say for I don't what reason.
The only workaround I found so far is to fully close the client after every call. Now that's quiet annoying. Is there a fix for this?

I've started experiencing the same issue on version 1.5.00.31168 (64-bit), last updated on 03/12/2022 the behavior appears to occur primarily after joining a scheduled meeting another participant had started and where the meeting ended before the scheduled end time.

Teams keeps the microphone open despite clicking Leave before the last participant had left and closing the meeting window.

Switching devices in the settings panel swaps the open microphone connection to the new device closing the open microphone, switching the device back reverts the connection to the previous microphone.

Both microphones used have an indicator led when the microphone is in use.

Restarting Teams releases the microphone.

Windows 10 Pro, Build 19045.2130, Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0, Intel i7-6800K CPU @ 3.40GHz

Same behavior! I'm using the Jabra Pro wired/usb headset and it shows that the call is still in progress even after the call is complete/hung-up. I have to completely exit out of Teams to have it reset.

Mine is 1.5.00.36367 and it has the same issue. Need to completely shutdown teams or reset my wireless headset to be able to use again.

Same issue. I am using a Jabra Engage 75 headset and need to quit and restart teams after each meeting. Very frustrating. Others suggested initiating a Test-Call and closing it may help, I'll try that instead.

Sometimes when I reach for my external webcam (storing behind my screen) to use it in a video meeting, I notice the light is on. Again, quit/restart teams shuts it down (scratching head).

Having the same issue. Adding to Brano's suggestion. If you go to the calendar, and start a meeting with yourself and then hang up, the mic gets released. But very annoying to do this after every scheduled meeting.

First i thought It's a problem with the headset, but I also tried this with other headsets. I can also close the call by using the echo call in the settings menu. I don't have the problem, when using the browser version of teams.

I'm having the same issue which is driving me crazy. I have a Jabra Evolve 75 connected to a Jabra Link 370 on my computer. This seems to only happen with Teams meetings and not direct calls. When the mic stays open, "fix" this call by calling someone directly and immediately hanging up. My Teams version is (version 1.6.00.2573 preview) and seems to have started recently.

I've seen references to it being "a stay connected" after meetings feature, but I'm not finding that feature or how to disable it.

Microsoft Teams Version 1.6.00.1381 (64-bit). It was last updated on 10-Feb-23.

Microphone stays on then Stereo doesn't work. Only way to make it work is closing Ms Teams app.

Exacty the same behavior. Using Jabra Engage 75. After finishing the meeting, microphone tray icon (on W11) is still active and call is still active on my Jabra base.

Of course, using latest Teams version 1.6.00.1381 (64-bit).

Jabra Direct headset updated to latest FW (Jan23), but I don't think it's a device issue but looks like a Teams issue (started on Nov. 2022).

To fix this, I usually do a Teams test call and seems this solves the issue (until next meeting).

This is pretty annoying.

Problem occasionally persists when I completely shut down teams. Jabra headset keeps acting as it would be in a call (dongle is red, microphone gets mutest and unmuted when moving it up or down)

Same issue for me. Jabra Evolve2 65.

Exiting from Teams and unpluging the handset the only way to disconnet the microphone.

I'm experiencing what I assume is the same issue when using a bluetooth headset. I find that the Teams call keeps the connection open to the device after the call is ended. I find I must end the connection before I join another teams meeting/call, otherwise there is no audio available in the new call.

My method of ending the connection has been to disconnect the bluetooth device (via the bluetooth control panel), the reconnect. It may be significant that when the bluetooth device is disconnected, the "End of call" sound is played through the default audio speakers.

Yes, I have. The mic is always locked after a scheduled meeting. If I call someone directly, mic gets released after hanging up. If I "Meet Now" from the calendar, mic is released after hanging up. It's just a problem with scheduled meetings (which happens to be like 50% of my calls, so very frustrating).

Additionally, I just got a new laptop and it has the same exact problem, so this is clearly a problem with Teams.

I'm not using Jabra like most people. I'm actually using a Sennheiser PXC 550 headset connecting over Bluetooth to a Sennheiser BTD 800 Bluetooth dongle. Worked fine for months. Just in the last month or so, Teams updated and introduced this bug.

One more "me too" report as this started happening a month or so ago.

I use my personal phone to stream music so need to do a test call after every teams call to have Teams release the headset to let my phone resume music playback.

Exactly this with my Evolve2 65 headphones. I thought it was the speakers being kept active but on further testing it's the microphone Teams won't let go of.

My personal "fix" is to use the Audio settings via WinKey+G and click between the Mix and Voice tabs. There's a quiet audio pop seeming confirming something is happening and it appears to be enough to get Teams to release it's grip!

Happens to me with only one meeting sometimes. I have to quit teams all together to have it shut off.
