Why the Teams client keeps using the microphone after calls are finished? is it evesdropping?

Everytime I finish a call on Teams I need to fully the close the client because Teams client keeps using my microphone. Not sure if this is a simple bug or it is evesdropping what you say for I don't what reason.
The only workaround I found so far is to fully close the client after every call. Now that's quiet annoying. Is there a fix for this?

I've started experiencing the same issue on version 1.5.00.31168 (64-bit), last updated on 03/12/2022 the behavior appears to occur primarily after joining a scheduled meeting another participant had started and where the meeting ended before the scheduled end time.

Teams keeps the microphone open despite clicking Leave before the last participant had left and closing the meeting window.

Switching devices in the settings panel swaps the open microphone connection to the new device closing the open microphone, switching the device back reverts the connection to the previous microphone.

Both microphones used have an indicator led when the microphone is in use.

Restarting Teams releases the microphone.

Windows 10 Pro, Build 19045.2130, Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0, Intel i7-6800K CPU @ 3.40GHz

Same behavior! I'm using the Jabra Pro wired/usb headset and it shows that the call is still in progress even after the call is complete/hung-up. I have to completely exit out of Teams to have it reset.

Microsoft Teams Version 1.5.00.33362 (64-bit). It was last updated on 12/11/2022.

Mine is 1.5.00.36367 and it has the same issue. Need to completely shutdown teams or reset my wireless headset to be able to use again.

Same issue. I am using a Jabra Engage 75 headset and need to quit and restart teams after each meeting. Very frustrating. Others suggested initiating a Test-Call and closing it may help, I'll try that instead.

Sometimes when I reach for my external webcam (storing behind my screen) to use it in a video meeting, I notice the light is on. Again, quit/restart teams shuts it down (scratching head).

Same Issue here. Microsoft Teams Version 1.6.00.376 (64-Bit) from 08.02.2023.
Jabra Evolve 75 with Firmware 2.38.0 (Value Pack 2), Jabra Link 370 with Firmware 1.87.0
First i thought It's a problem with the headset, but I also tried this with other headsets. I can also close the call by using the echo call in the settings menu. I don't have the problem, when using the browser version of teams.

Same issue here too. Microsoft Teams Version 1.6.00.1381 (64-bit).
Jabra Evolve2 85 with firmware 1.3.8 (up to date), Jabra Link 380 with firmware 1.16.0 (up to date).

For me seems that problem is solved with last update version 6.6.03101 of Jabra Direct software released on February 22, 2023

Confirmed - the newest Jabra Direct update also worked for me. $*@&# Jabra software strikes again.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't think this was due to a Jabra software update. I use Sennheiser headphones, and Teams has been releasing the mic today. It seems there was a Teams update (and I know there was no Sennheiser update).

My last Teams update for Windows is 1.6.00.1381 relesead on February 7th. Too early so that at the time it was still the problem. Anyway now seems solvded.

It should not be an eavesdropping. I tested this in several computers and Teams didn’t occupy the microphone when the call finished.

To determine if this is Teams side problem, it recommends you to log in Teams web client(https://teams.microsoft.com) and check the usage of microphone.

Meanwhile, it’s suggested to update your client to the latest version and if your OS have update warning, please update it in time.

Besides, I want to confirm some other questions:

Does this problem exist all the time? Or what changes do you do before happened?

Does anyone else have the same problem?

Not sure how a Web client relates to the installed one. Any bug in one should be independent from the other.
Laptop is fully upgraded on Windows 10, and client is up to date also.

I searched a lot and didn’t find the similar issue. It has no definite solution now.

To determine if this is a single-computer problem, you could test in other computers and observe the results.

Test with other applications and check the microphone status to analyze if there is something wrong with the audio driver.

Furthermore, you could also Report a problem from Teams client as below:

it does not happen on web teams version to me. on web teams it works perfectly OK. so it is issue of the ms teams desktop version only.

Hi!

I have the same exact problem.

We have a standing meeting in my team that we join on and off to just chat and what not.

And the mic stays on every time that I leave that meeting, I will pay close attention to when this happens now.
Alot of the time there are meetings back-to-back so then I haven't paid attention to the problem.

I have a Jabra Evolv 2 75 or what ever its called and it's easy to spot when the mic is in use on the USB-dongle that comes with it (green/red when in use).

Same problem here. Working with a Jabra Evolve 65. Teams keeps microphone control. Microphone LED on headset stays on after each call I finish. Teams version 1.6.00.376 (64-bit)

I'm having the same issue which is driving me crazy. I have a Jabra Evolve 75 connected to a Jabra Link 370 on my computer. This seems to only happen with Teams meetings and not direct calls. When the mic stays open, "fix" this call by calling someone directly and immediately hanging up. My Teams version is (version 1.6.00.2573 preview) and seems to have started recently.

I've seen references to it being "a stay connected" after meetings feature, but I'm not finding that feature or how to disable it.
