Error messages when saving file to SharePoint Online

We have a set of users that frequently get error messages when saving from MS Word to a SharePoint Online document library.  Had this happen recently.  User received two error messages, "Autosave Failed" and "Upload Failed".

User had accessed the document from a Sync'd local folder.  There is one other user that has been editing this document as well.  When this user tried Save As, SharePoint would not allow him to save to the SharePoint folder.  He had to save to local desktop and copy file to SharePoint library.

This is causing confusion among users that are trying to edit the same document because different versions (or copies) are having to be saved to SP.

I have a similar question but I'm not receiving an error, it's just stuck in the middle of an auto save. I am trying to modify an Excel file that I recently saved to OneDrive. I was in the middle of simply expanding the height of a single row when I believe it attempted to auto save and quickly froze. That was 18 hours ago. I've tried downloading locally, no changes are included in that version. I also checked the details and the last modification was hours prior to my recent changes, so I don't want to refresh the screen.

    Help?
