Line Graph Data Table Not Showing Correct Order of Data

I have created a line graph that is simple and what I need to show. I would like to add the data table to give actual numbers, but Excel has flopped the data end for end with my months. As you can see below, the January data is showing for July, February data showing in June, etc. The line graph itself is correct, just trying to figure out how to get the data table to show correctly.

Any ideas?

    Hi Jay,

Thanks for sharing with us the file.

The behavior seems to be related to the value and format of column A. I changed the format of to General and manually input those months. Create a new chart in it. Please check the copy file in the private message.

    Regards,

    Tim

    Hi Jay,

Please check if my steps are the same as yours.

    1. Create a table as below.

    1. Select all cells>insert Line Chart>Line with marks. Get the first result.

    1. Change the axis settings.

    1. Click + button to add table to chart and get the proper result.

    Best regards,

    Tim

I followed your steps on how you made yours and the results are different in that the graph is reversed (starts with July instead of January); but has the correct values.

Made the table, selected cells, chose insert-->line graph. I get this:

    Define axis properties:

    Added the data table:

I am not sure where I am going wrong...

    Hi Jay,

Do you get the first screenshot "start from January" just after inserting the chart? Do you configure some other settings? If just select those cells and insert the line chart, it should first start with July.

Could you share with us the file in myprivate message? We want to check the same file from our side.

    Regards,

    Tim

Thanks Tim for taking a look at the file. I did the same thing for my other data sets and were able to get the graphs to work as they should.

    Thanks,

    Jay
