SharePoint Modern List Properties Web Part - Attachments not updating

Not sure where to post SharePoint Online bugs so I'll drop it off here:

I'm having an issue with the "List Property" Web Part in Modern Pages.

After linking the "List Property" Web Part to a List (visible in the same page), changing / editing "Attachments" doesn't work. Note: all other fields update without issues.

Details:

  • Attach a file to a selected list item (using List Property Web Part).
  • Click on the check mark after the file-name appears.
  • The name resets back to "Add or remove attachment" (or reverts back to previous attachments - added manually using the List page proper.

    Hi M. Pietrasz,

To check if this behavior is related to the settings of your browser, please try in another browser and see if the behavior could be reproduced.

If this issue isn't related to the settings of your browser, please also try going to Site Contents > open the list > add an attachment to see if this is related to permission of the list.

Meanwhile, as I cannot reproduce the same behavior on my side with the List Properties web part, I'd appreciate it if you could share a screen record of your reproducing steps in Private Messages via a link so that we could further assist this issue for you.

    Best Regards,

    Nathan

    Hi Nathan,

Fault is duplicated across all 3 browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE).

Adding attachments to List Items through Site Contents > List Name works just fine.

Again, the issue is only with the "Attachments" field in List Properties Web Part (Modern Site Page). Changing the value of any other field of the selected item (via this Web Part) works Fine.

    Steps:

    1. On List Properties Web Part Click "Add or remove attachment" in the Attachment field. A blue "Add attachments" link is then displayed, when you click it, file explorer opens up allowing you to add a file.

    1. Once a file is selected, it is displayed and listed in the Attachments field. Now, either click the check box, or simply click away to another field in the Web Part:

    1. At this point the file disappears and we're back to the original "Add or remove attachments" in the Attachment field (with nothing attached).

Also note: Same thing happens when you already have an attachment in the list item (attached via Site Contents > List Name > Edit Item) and you try to delete it (using this "List Properties" Web Part). Selecting the X icon in the Web Part prompts you with a "Are you sure" warning, but when you click yes and click away, the file that was originally attached is still there.

It looks like List Properties is not saving changes (Attachments fields only - Again; all others fields save changes without issues).

I am running into the same issue as M. Pietrasz.  If you try to attach an attachment through List Properties it does not save. I also discovered another issue with List Priorities.  If you have a 'multiple lines of text' column and the append feature is turned on, the values do not show up in List Properties, nor are they editable.

    Hi M. Pietrasz,

Thank you for sharing the detailed steps with us. I'm afraid that we cannot reproduce the same behavior on our side. After I clicked the check box and close the List Properties web part, the uploaded attachment still exists when I click to open the web part again.

Since this may be related to the network connection, please also try changing the network environment, for example switch to another netwok, or temporarily close the proxy and see if the issue would be fixed.

@M. Pietrasz & Scott, if my above suggestions couldn't help, since I couldn't reproduce the same issue on our side, I'd appreciate it if you may share the Fiddler log of this issue to us in Private Messages so that we may further investigate this issue for you. If you haven't installed Fiddler in your PC, you may download it from this link.

Below are the detailed steps. Please do perform step c and e to reduce the log size.

    a. After the installation, please do not update the application when an update window pops up, because the newest version has some problem with HTTPS sessions.

    b. Open Fiddler 4 -> click Tools -> Fiddler Options -> HTTPS -> select Capture HTTPS CONNECTS -> select Decrypt HTTPS traffic -> select Ignore server certificate errors.

Also, in HTTPS tab, click "Export Root Certificate to Desktop" and open(install) that certificate file to make sure Fiddler is allowed to capture the logs.

*c. Close all browsers and all applications running on your computer.

    d. Reopen Fiddler 4, make sure File -> Capture Traffic is ticked.

*e. Now Fiddler is ready. On the Fiddler 4, if there are some items in the main board, right click on the main board -> Remove -> All Sessions. This will remove the unnecessary logs so we can focus on the required logs.

    f. Reproduce the issue, try accessing admin portal. After the error appears, go to the Fiddler 4 -> click File -> Save-> All Sessions -> type a name to store the capture as a .saz file.

    Best Regards,

    Nathan
