After highlighting the numbers in my Excel worksheet, the status bar is not displaying the sum and average.

I've tried all the following and still the status bar is not functioning properly:

 1. Is the status bar showing? Yes.

 2. Is the status bar display settings selected properly? Yes, average and count are both check marked.

 3. Are the numbers formatted correctly?  Yes, they are formatted as numbers.

 4. Did I recently install Office 365? Yes several weeks ago, problem appeared a week or so later.

 5. Change to Excel.old? I tried doing the C:\Users(enter user name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel then changing Excel to Excel.old. Did not work.

See highlighted section below:

This is a very frustrating problem since I used this function quite often for work.  Please help.

Ok, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, find Office installation, right-click over Office installation > Change > Online Repair.

Does not work.  Let me add that if I open an old file, the status bar works just fine but if I create a new file the status bar does not work...

Wow, really weird, so, could you go to File > account, then in "About Excel" share the information in that lines, about Version..... (Build .....) and update channel.

By the way, you could try to open Excel in safe mode, and create a new file.

Find the shortcut icon for Excel application.

Press and hold the CTRL key and double-click the application shortcut.

Or with the keys combinations (Windows+R) open RUN and type: excel /safe
