How to add the DWORD value SQLSecurityCheck in Word/Options registery via Regedit?

My MS Access program opens a mail merge Word document to prepare a document or a mail with Access data. To avoid an error explaining that the mail merge document is not foreseen for mail merge, I needed to add via Regedit the DWORD value SQLSecurityCheck in the registery HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Word\Options  

However, with the latest version of Windows and Office, I don't see anymore this registry key. What's the "workaround" solution for this new release?

    Hi Jack,

    As Doug suggested above, you only need to choose either set the SQLSecurityCheck in the Registry or install the add-in on your computer. As I noticed that you didn't have a clear understanding on how to add SQLSecurityCheck in the Registry, please try to follow the steps below to set up.

    1: Press Window key + R and key in " regedit" in the dialog

    2: Select OK to run Registry Editor

    3: Locate the following  registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Word\Options

    4: Right click on Option folder and create DWORD registry key

    5: Rename the created key as " SQLSecurityCheck"

    6:Double click on SQLSecurityCheck and set value data as 00000000, and click okay to save.

    7: Restart your computer.

    If the issue still exists, please also provide as the screenshot of your Office version. You can go to File > Account > Under Product Information to check it.

    If what you are saying that the customer "activated" what was probably a trial version on the new PC, it might be best to remove all traces of the Office installation by downloading the fixit from the following article:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501

    saving it to the new computer and then running it.

    Then, after re-starting the computer, reinstall Office by logging into www.office.com/myaccount with the registered email address and click Install Office.

    Hi Jack,

    Thanks for your updates. Based on your description above, your customer can’t find any registry key based on the path above. Usually, the registry key should be found with the following path “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Word\Options” after you installed Office client on your computer (Please take note that the Office registry key must be added under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, not HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE).

    However, if your customer couldn’t find the relevant path above in the registry editor. You can also create the path by yourself manually. You can try creating the Microsoft, Office, 16.0, Word and option manually by right clicking on the path > Select New key and rename the key accordingly.

    Once you have created the path above. You can create DWORD value based on the steps above and see the outcomes.

    Hello Dihao,

    I worked on my customer's PC today, using Regedit.

    As already said, I can't find any Registry called "Office".

    So, I created in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft, the register Office, then 16.0, then Word, then Options and then the Dword value SQLSecurityCheck.

    However, I does not help...

    Do you have any other suggestion?

    I asked to my customer to uninstall Office and install it again.

    Hi Jack,

    Thank you for your updates. I understand you may not able to find the Registry called “Office” from your client computer. The reason you can’t find the same path in Registry Editor might because your client downloaded and installed Microsoft Access App from Microsoft Store since I noticed that the Access location is under C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. Usually, we recommend users download and install from Office Portal by signing in with the licensed work or school account.

    However, before you advise your client to reinstall Office from Office Portal. You may try manually adding the register for “Office”, then “16.0”, then “Word”, then“Options”. then Dword value “SQLSecurityCheck” one by one by right clicking new > Key. and see the outcome. Please take note that the registry key will be created as the following sequence “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Word\Options”

    WARNING*: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Edit at your own risk.*

    If it still doesn’t work, you may advise the client to remove those registry key before reinstalling Office from portal.
