Does that make a difference?

Hi all :)
I have a problem with autofilling dates in Excel (Office 365). It is not possible to autofill dates. This is the same for days, months or years. I do not even come to point to choose what to autofill ( drag down while holding right-click).
My cells are in the right format for my region. I can change them to short or long format without a problem but the autofill won't work.
For your information my display language (Windows + Excel) is english. Region settings for Germany.
Maybe someone had the same issue or can help me.
Best regards

This was already enabled. So I guess it makes no difference.
I have no problem autofilling dates. As long as the dates are entered in a format that Excel recognizes as a date, and you provide at least 3 examples of the pattern you want to use I have no problem at all using autofill to extend dates

Typing or formatting cells of repetitive data can be very boring, but Excel has an Auto Fill feature to make it easier by automatically filling in data for you. We thought we knew Auto Fill but it has some surprising and useful tricks.
Auto Fill goes beyond simple incrementing numbers or dates which is what most of us do. Auto Fill can be used for any type of data that fits a regular pattern. Dates are well supported with good options under a little-used menu as well as copying formatting choices.

When you’re working with sequential numbers or dates in Excel, typing every single item in every cell for that column or row can be time-consuming. Auto Fill is Excel’s way of doing this for you. I’ll show you a lightning-fast way to fill in sequential (or same) values across multiple cells with Auto Fill in this quick tip.

Excel knows to fill down/right when you are working with dates, days, months, years and even quarters. That is very helpful and quick. When you fill any values, an Auto Fill Options box pops up which you can click and select the different options available. If you are filling dates, then you have the option to auto fill by Weekdays, Months and Years. How cool is that! Another trick is if you want to fill down an incremental number, say from 1 to 2,3,4,5,6…..

Thank you for your answer. I know how the autofill should work that's why I am confused now why it is not working properly in my case.
Maybe I did not explained this right.
The cells are formatted as dates (short or long format, suitable for my region settings). When I select them and drag down (left or rightclick) excel autofills with copies. There is no automatic increment of days, years or month and I am not able to chose (holding right-click) what do increment with autofill.
You have to give it at least 3 examples for it to auto increment. Then select all examples and drag the "handle" in the bottom right corner.
