Issue Uploading Excel files to Microsoft Teams

Hello!

We are currently having an issue here. When we upload any Excel file to Microsoft Teams, the pre-applied filters that we have put on a particular data set disappear, thus resulting in all of the data showing up.

Is there a way to fix this issue?

Thanks!

    Hi Ryan,

Thank you for posting your question in this community. From your description, when you open an Excel workbook with Filters in Microsoft Teams, you found that the filters are disappeared from the wordbook. And this issue is happened to all your workbooks with filters in Teams.

I also tried to reproduce this issue from my side where I created a workbook and applied filters to my data set by selecting my data set > Data menu > Filter. Then I shared this workbook with other users in Microsoft Teams and open and edit it in Teams. It seems that the filters are remained in the workbooks.

If there are any differences of my reproduce steps from yours, please point them out.

In addition, may i confirm the following information to further narrow down this issue at your convenience?

1: Does this issue happen to the other users when they open the workbooks with filters from Teams in your organization?

2: Try to open the workbook with filters from Excel browser and Desktop application and see the results.

3: Does the same issue occur to your local Excel workbooks or the workbooks in SharePoint document documents library? From this, we can ensure whether this issue is only happened when you open Excel workbooks with filters in Teams

    Best regards,

    Dihao

Yes, this happens to other users when they open the files as well.

Browser and desktop  - happens in both of them.

Filters go away in Sharepoint on this file as well.

    Hi Ryan,

Thank you for your replay and sharing the information.

It seems like once the file is uploaded to Teams group and associated SharePoint Teams site, the filter is removed without any notices. Please try out the following methods and see the outcome so that we can determine whether it is an issue with the local environment or the account level.

1: Try to upload an Excel file with Filters to a different SharePoint sites from SharePoint portal instead of group channels in Teams.

2: Does this issue happen to all the existing Excel files or the specific Excel files? Try to create a new Excel file and upload to SharePoint site and group channel in Teams.

In addition, does this behavior happen to your colleagues in your organization? It can help us to determine whether the issue is related to tenant level.

    Best regards,

    Dihao

    1. When uploaded to SharePoint (not in a Teams channel) the filters stay as is.
    2. All Excel files have this issue currently.

Several different colleagues have the same issue as I when uploading to teams.

    Thank you!
