Missing Excel Functions in Excel Online

There are several articles regarding specific functions in Excel that are missing and/or don't work in Excel Online (e.g. CELL, IFS, etc.). However, after a quick search, there doesn't appear to be a side-by-side list of functions that are in the Excel desktop app and not in Excel Online. Is there such a list? Do I need to make one?

My question: Where can I find a side-by-side list of Excel functions that are in the desktop app but not in the online version?

    Hi John,

Thanks for the replying back with more detailed clarification. I searched and tested more about this problem you mentioned about. Please kindly check below.

Refer to the function feature introduced in Excel for the web, You can use most of the more than 400 Excel worksheet functions in formulas in Excel for the web, including functions used in dynamic array formulas, such as the FILTER function.

There’s no official article or list mentioning any function that not supported in Excel for the Web. Only the list of the difference for the list of the functions work between Excel for the web and client app.

And based on my test, for the IFS/CELL/CHIDIST/CHIINV, they are all supported in Excel on the web. Please kindly check my test screenshots below.

Currently, I haven’t found any function that totally not supported in Excel for the Web. To double confirm that, I have also found official article for these functions, for example, CHIINV function, it states that the function applies to Excel for the web.

Do you meet any issues when you use any of them in Excel for the web? If so, you can provide us the screenshot and detailed steps and problems, I can investigate further for you.

    Regards,

    Rena
