I have a table/range of data (numbers and text) and would like to have excel evaluate the table to search for a value and return a corresponding "label" at the top of the table.

Any thoughts, help ??

Thank you,

Vance

    Hello,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm Fritzie, an Independent Advisor. I'll be happy to help you out today.

Based on your screenshot, here's a link on how to get the value based on weight and distance. You need to use SUMPRODUCT function to match rows and columns.

Here's a screenshot of what I'm trying to get Excel to do/find.

Based on the Weight & Distance criteria (in yellow), find the corresponding value in the table and report back the "minimum" size of crane needed to safely lift the load.

The issue is how the Matching search reports the 30 Ton (the Column Label) in your Excel. Can you elaborate more?

Thank you very much for the reply and help, however I'm simply trying to find the "first" value that matches the search criteria and return a corresponding value (don't need/want to add-up several cells of "matching").

    Any other thoughts/suggestions ??

I only refer to the screenshot you provided. Can you share the file so I can put the formula. Thank you.
