Sharepoint feature 'Open in Desktop App'

I am unable to open a Word document from a team SharePoint folder using 'Open in Desktop App' on my own PC which is running Windows 10 and Office 2019.  A window opens that says 'https://word-edit.officeapps.com want to open this application.'  When I click Open, I am directed to Sign In.

If I use my business email address, it does not recognize my password.

If I use my personnel email, it does not even go to the password window but reverts back to Sign In.

An associate who is running Office 365 instead of Office 2019 does not have this problem.

    Hi Mike,

Could you check if a reply I posted here might help you, check if your computers "Webclient" service is runing.

    Hi Jimmy:

Yes, my webclient service is running.  I changed it to automatic from manual, restarted the computer but was still unable to 'open in desktop app' from SharePoint.

Same result - using my personal email account, it won't go on to the password and using my business email, it won't recognize the password.

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Could you share the password prompt you are seeing?

    Hi Mike,

The login prompt does look like the modern one, and you should use your work account as I presume this is your work SharePoint. :)

    I'll recommend you to:

    1. Create a support ticket with internal IT or MS Support to have a look at the setup
    2. Look me up on LinkedIn or Twitter, then I can help you look at it, a bit difficult as I'm guessing how things looks like.

    Cheers
