In Excel under office 365, with current updates installed:

clicked File

clicked Options

clicked Add-ins.

clicked power pivot under "inactive application add-ins"

clicked "go" - PowerPivot was not listed.

Browsed to the dll in program files.

put the dll file path and name in the file name box,

clicked open and got "<path>\Microsoft.Office.PowerPivot.ExcelAddin.dll" is not a valid add-in

How can I install the powerpivot addin?

    Tom,

Could you please check if your office version is included in the list of products with power pivot availability?

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/wher...

If yes, try to check also if you have the latest updates installed.

    Thank you.

    Jen:

I am running a recent version of office 365 (purchased and installed in March of 2020), and I asked for and assumed that that I got all features, and I added ACCESS to the mix, so yes, I should be in the "power pivot club."

If this (and maybe other) feature(s) were inadvertently omitted by the rep who sold me the package, we need to get that rectified post haste.

FYI: I had a 90 minute session this morning with someone at support, who did a screen share and couldn't figure this out.  He sent me to "the community."

I just yesterday ran updates to office 365 and got the confirmation message that the updates had been successfully installed.

As far as I know, I've told  you everything that could be involved in this situation.

    Regards,

    Tom

    Hello Tom,

I'm sorry if you're experiencing this problem. Please have a look at the link below. You may try the troubleshooting steps given in the article. It tackles about a different version of Office but the suggested solutions might also work for your version.

    https://www.exefiles.com/en/dll/microsoft-offic...

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

Also, the latest option i know that I found in the other forum is a full in-installation of the Office. After that, you can re-install the add-in back again from scratch.

However, with that you will loss all your Office settings.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/unin...

and install it again from scratch.

Let me know if any of the suggested fixes above work for you.

    Regards,

    Jen :)

    Jen:

I see that you're up late as well...

Given that this problem surfaced on my first attempt to use the power pivot feature, I think that I'll pass on reverting to a prior system restore level.

I will go in and verify that the registry keys are deleted and then download a copy of the DLL in question.

Apparently Excel will automagically register the DLL when it opens the feature

If that fails, I think that I will have to have a heart-to-heart with the sales folks.

    Will advise :)

    regards,

    Tom
