UserForm Tools Additional Controls

I am flummoxed as to why I can't get UserForm Tools "Additional Controls" e.g., Calendar Control 11.0 (and all the others) on my Windows 10 PC.

I have confirmed that the MSCOMCTL.OCX file is in the C:\Windows\sysWOW64 folder.

I have used the command prompt regsrv32.exe to both un-register and register the file.

In the VB Editor (after performing the steps above). Microsoft Windows Common Controls 6.0 (SP6). DOES NOT appear in the list of available references.  However, I can Browse for file and manually load the MSCOMCTL.OCX file and after I do, then Microsoft Common Controls 6.0 (SP6) does appear in the list (and is checked). But when I click on "Additional Controls" nothing happens.

With all of that done, if I attempt to open a file with a Calendar Control 11.0 embedded, I get an error "could not load an object because it is not available on this machine."

I have tried the trick about setting compatibility mode for Word to WindowsXP, I have done a Windows Automatic Repair, I have removed the MSCOMCTL.OCX file and reinstalled it from several weblinks and successfully registered it.  I'm at a loss.

Any ideas?  Thanks.,

    Hans,

I have 2 computers here and I have the same issue on both.  Graham sent me a document file yesterday with the calendar control and when I went to open it I get an error "Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine."  That is not true MSCOMCTL.OCX is on the machine and registered.

Yes, creating a new user account does resolve the issue.  However, it is simply too painful and I don't have time to customize a new profile just to have access to these controls.

Do you know of anything (some cleanup or repair) that could be done with my existing profile to fix this?  Thanks for all your time and the suggestions.

I'm afraid I don't know enough about this. Sorry!

    Hans,

No problem thanks.  It simply isn't worth the drill of customizing an new profile.  MS blows in so many ways and this is just one of them.
