Errors While Linking Tasks in Master Project

Hello. I'm trying to set up dependencies between subprojects. My project files were created in Project Center, but I'm doing my work on the desktop application (Professional 2019).

When I open the master project and try link any tasks, I get the same error message. Any ideas?

You're welcome and thanks for the feedback. Project can do some strange things and quite often trying to find the reason why is an exercise in futility. I'm glad the "fix" works for you but just remember, linked structures in Project are prone to corruption so you may not be "home free".

Travis J.

I've never personally seen the supposed issue with the Fixed Cost Accrual in a master project but here's something simple to try. I'm assuming you do NOT have any task fixed costs in the master or subprojects.

1. Add the Fixed Cost Accrual field as a column in the Gantt Chart view.

2. Display the Master Project Summary Task (i.e. ID 0).

3. Make sure all subprojects are fully expanded.

  1. Select the Project Summary Task Fixed Cost Accrual cell and then do a fill down through all subprojects.

5. Go back and pick up any summary lines that did not respond to the fill down

  1. Now try creating the inter-project links.

Does that work?

    So strange....

I did what you suggested and even though every task was showing as Prorated in the Fixed Cost Accrual prior to doing the fill down, many of them showed as modified after (highlighted blue).
After the fill down, I can now add the task dependencies.

Thank you for the suggestion to this perplexing problem!
