Onenote Android app share functionality

Greetings and happy new year,

I have seen this problem in a lot of forums and it is unfortunately not working yet, at least for me. I have an Android phone, a google pixel 3a, and whenever I try to share anything to OneNote (a webpage, a tweet or whatever) I always get this notification. Someone could support me here? I tried already to uninstall the app, erase my data and the cache one and install it again, and still not working.

In case anyone on the technical side cares anymore, the same issue is reproducible on a Windows desktop when using the OneNote Chrome extension: if the "Full Page" option is selected, the spinner runs for quite a while, after which the message: "*No content found. Try another clipping mode."*****is displayed.

Just as I previously shown, connecting through VPN to a location in Asiaworks in this case as well. The "Bookmark" option (thankfully) works without using a VPN. It is clear that the full page option is doing the same communication with Microsoft servers as the Android app, which fails in Europe, but works in Asia. I would now be willing to bet that the same issue appears on iOS devices.

The lack of support is again worrying, as this is a paid product, not a free, community-driven, best-effort app.

I have the same issue. Onenote used to work perfectly. At some stage (cannot precisely say when) it stopped working (oneplus2, Redmi Note7). I tried it on my daughters Samsung S7 and it worked ok, that was a reason to buy a new/other (second hand) phone Samsung 9. But it also didnt work!

This is when I started looking for alternatives to Onenote....

In my frustration I posted this on Reddit:

It's the little things.... What has irritated me for some time, is how Microsoft spends so much money in upgrading it's products for it's own profit but seems unable to provide a consistent product/service without changing for its own benefit without regard for its customers (so called improvements, but usually to do with improving it's own bottom line) Let's not talk about changing ui metaphors and forcing people to (costly) relearn. Lets focus on usability, consistency and testing.... Printing

           - why can't I print only the first page or a range (win10)

    • why can't I print on android or ipad

My android version wont except sharing of links from my browser (samsung s9, redmi note 7)

In the last months I keep getting page conflicts.

I have been using Microsoft products nearly my whole working career (40+ years) It is the same story for most suppliers (apple, google,....) "we have to keep creating new shiny things for corporate" xxx(never mind) the end user with old equipment or with small bufget or occasional users. Keep changing and produce shiny low quality products and expensive services without backwards compatibility.

I'd love to see the test suite/plan/scope for their qa departments. I suspect they have a bunch of ma empty heads with focus on their salary/benefits/career without a real grasp of who their users really are (poor or non-existent user journeys).

I really love onenote and excel.

But in 2021 thankfully there are better products that suit my needs now for free. #grumpyGrandad

    Thanks for waiting.

Just to inform you, our engineering team are still working on this concern. We’ll let you know once we got any updates from them,

    Regards.

Please I'm also experiencing a similar problem: " I can't Share web content, articles, images, videos, and files with OneNote." BUT I WAS ABLE TO SHARE WEB CONTENT, ETC BEFORE. MY Android phone Model is CAMON 15. How do I go about the OneNote settings to resolve this please?

I am also having the exact same issues when trying to Share web content/etc from my Samsung Note8 (Android version 9) using the OneNote Android App build/version 16.0.13801.20010

The Share functionality was working perfectly, beforehand; but sometime after the Feb 23rd update, the "loading" message (2nd attachment) kept showing up and taking longer and longer; where before, it would share after 15 - 30 seconds; now it no longer shares at ALL and after a couple of minutes, it just shows the "can't download" message (3rd attachment).

I also uninstalled the app, erased my data + the cache, and reinstalled it & re-started phone, again and again, and it is still NOT working!

As a fully paying annual Office365 customer, how do I get official support for this?

This is an URGENT issue for me, as this OneNote Sharing functionality is the #1 reason I pay $100 a year for the Office365 subscription and I rely on it on a daily basis; otherwise, I would have to go back to using EverNote and cancel this subscription.

Please, kindly provide me an ETA as to when this major issue will be resolved; otherwise, let me know how I can submit a formal customer support ticket or request a refund.

In order to expedite the process, these are the steps I tried so far, to no success:

    • sync notebook
    • clearing app cache
    • clearing app data
    • uninstall+reinstall app
    • change account password so that I am logged out of all devices
    • resolving all note conflicts
    • joining beta program and updating the app to the beta version
    • turning off Connected Experiences privacy permissions in app settings

       - the sharing functionality is disabled if the "Experiences that download content" setting is disabled, turning it back on does not solve the issue

       - turning on Optional Diagnostic Data does not solve the issue

    • using a VPN

The behavior related to the Connected Experiences settings leads me to believe the problem is connected to communications during the share process with cloud components. From this thread (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_onenote-mso_amobile-mso_mobapps/one-note-share-on-android-stopped-working/669a5491-d1a5-440a-a074-cc5241794952?page=3) it seems likely that turning off the save as image option could be a solution, but for me the option is permanently enabled and grayed out

Thanks for informing us about this.

We understand that you’re also getting the same issue when it comes to the share functionality of OneNote for Android. At this point, there are no updates yet and we’re still waiting for the response of our Internal Support about this matter.

We’ll make sure to keep you all posted about this.
