Hi,

Is Macros Excel will be working after migrate to SharePoint Teams Site? If not working, what is the consideration should we take if we want move to O365.

Currently, our we have a lot of Macros files in their File Share (Right now we're using Office 2010). We're facing problem with Macros file if using Office 2013 or Office 2016. We’re planning to migrate the file to SharePoint Team site without breaking excel file.

    Hi Jacky,

Yes the account is same account.

For Office 2016, user sign-in using this account Ahmad@domain.local but then I sign-out the office 2016 and resign-in again using ******@domain.com. I received warning like screenshot above. Do we need to keep user sign-in to Ahmad@domain.local for Office 2016? I afraid if we not login using ******@domain.com, there is no update  for modified by status in SharePoint Online.

For SharePoint Online license I assigned using M365 Admin Center. For Office 2016 is installed in user's computer.

    Hi NorafifyJalil,

    Thank you for the update.

You mentioned "For Office 2016, user sign-in using this account Ahmad@domain.local" and for SharePoint Online using ******@domain.com, since these two accounts have different suffixes, they are not the same account, they are different accounts under the same tenant, this is the cause of the above error message.

For a workaround, you can try to use OneDrive sync client (OneDrive license is included in the SharePoint Online plan you bought) to sync SharePoint Online files to your client. After syncing successfully, you need to uncheck an option first via clicking OneDrive icon> Help & Settings > Settings > Office section > "Use office applications to sync Office files that I open" and uncheck it. After unchecking this option, when you open Office files in the OneDrive sync folder, you can open the file from Office client without loging in. After making changes to the files, you need to manually save the files. Then you can see the status of the file is syncing in OneDrive sync folder. After syncing successfully, you can see these updates from SharePoint Online.

Here is an article about how to sync SharePoint files and folders(refer to this part: Set up Sync for your library). And generally, if you are using Windows 10, OneDrive is pre-installed on your device. You can search OneDrive in the search box to see if OneDrive is there. If not, you can go here to download OneDrive: Download OneDrive

    Best regards,

    Jazlyn

    Hi Jazlyn,

From the workaround you provide, meaning the user still able to sign-in office 2016 using Ahmad@domain.local without changing the user account.

Which one is better experience for the user? it's required to sign-in Office 2016 using Ahmad@domain.local or ******@domain.com to open the file from SharePoint Online? I see here we can't have AutoSave if we're not using Office from M365 .. it's correct?

Let me try this workaround and update you soon.

    Hi NorafifyJalil,

    Your understanding is right.

For Office 2016, user can use Ahmad@domain.local to activate it and use it.

For OneDrive client, user can login the account he used to login SharePoint Online to sync the files to the OneDrive sync folder in local.

About unchecking the "Use office applications to sync Office files that I open" for OneDrive, it means that files opened in Office client will be synced through OneDrive instead of Office.

So the Autosave button will not be turned on, which means that users need to save the files via clicking the Save button manually.

After saving the files, go back to the OneDrive sync folder, you can see the the files is under Sync status(the first picture). It will change to another status after syncing successfully to the cloud.
