Jason,
I found it! There is a second "preferences" tab under "Excel" when the VBA window is opened.
Thanks for your help.

My VBA project explorer window is floating and if I move it to the upper left corner of the editor window it expanse so it goes completely across the editor window. My properties window does the same thing.
Office 365 and it's up to date

Jason,
Your solution did not work. There was another solution posted that involved removing the com.microsoft.excel file. That one worked.
Jason, question was answered a week ago. The solution you laid out didn't quite fit what my issue was. The fit for my problem was deleting the com.microsoft.excel folder. Is there something I need to do to make the answers to my question stop besides reply to them?
Thanks for your help,
Bill
