Saving an Excel .XLS file as a .CSV file

Question

Hello. I am using Microsoft Excel in One Drive. I have a workbook file that I am trying to save as a CSV file but it is not giving me the option to save it as such. Can anyone help me out?

Hi Kim, not sure when file is in OneDrive but using File Explorer>Open Excel workbook>File>Export>Change file Type. CSV is there

Hi Kim. I am an Excel user like you and will try to help.

I opened a file from OneDrive and clicked on Save As in the File menu. Here is what you should see when saving a file from/to OneDrive:

When you go to the Save As screen, click on the OneDrive option on the left, click on the drop-down arrow to the right of the File Type under the document name and select CSV (Comma delimited (*.csv).

My screen looks completely different. See attached. its not giving me the option to save as an csv. I

I don't see anything on my computer that looks similar, so I don't know what to suggest--maybe someone else can chime in also.

However, I do have a suggestion that maybe you could try if it would work with your configuration on OneDrive.

I would try the "download a copy to your computer" option. Save it as a .csv on your computer. Then upload/save it back to the OneDrive if that sequence is possible. (You might need to open it in Notepad under Windows Accessories in your programs to open it as a .csv and save it in that format to One Drive if saving through Excel as .csv doesn't work.)
