Hello Denise,
After trying it out I found that if the checkbox for "Allow editing directly in cells" is unchecked the flashing cursor is not seen in the cell. When the box is checked the cursor is back.
I hope this helps.

I have lost the text cursor in the excel cells. How do you get the flashing text cursor to show in excel cells again it shows in the formula bar and in other Office apps just not in the excel app. I have shut down, did a Microsoft repair. Changed the mouse settings, used the advanced options in the Excel file options. Nothing has worked. Please help.

>Try disabling hardware acceleration to see the behavior.
In Excel, go to File - Options
On the left, click Advanced
On the right, scroll down to the Display section
Turn on the option to 'Disable Hardware graphics acceleration'
Save that setting and restart Excel

Hello,
Thank you for the response. I did try that it did not work.
I believe what is happening is related to your windows configuration.
I suggest you follow the steps below to keep the course while typing:
Press the Start windows button;
Select Control Panel;
Look for the Mouse option;
Select the Pointer Options tab;
Uncheck the Hide Pointer When Typing option;
Click Apply and Ok.
Hello,
I have already tried that and still nothing. The cursor shows in safe mode.
