I have lost the text cursor in the excel cells. How do you get the flashing text cursor to show in excel cells again it shows in the formula bar and in other Office apps just not in the excel app. I have shut down, did a Microsoft repair. Changed the mouse settings, used the advanced options in the Excel file options. Nothing has worked. Please help.

    Hello Denise,

After trying it out I found that if the checkbox for "Allow editing directly in cells" is unchecked the flashing cursor is not seen in the cell. When the box is checked the cursor is back.

    I hope this helps.

The only remaining alternative would be to perform the Full Repair (online), to see if it resolves.

Follow the steps below to see if it has been resolved.

1- Click on the Windows "start" icon (bottom-left corner of your screen).

    2-Click on "Settings". ...

    3-Click on "Apps". ...

4-Select "Microsoft Office" (or "Microsoft Excel" if you do not have the full Office installation).

    5-Click "Modify".

    6-Choose "Online Repair".

    Hello Denise,

While the flashing "pipe" is not visible in the active cell, can you type in cell and is the value shown correctly?

Additionally what version of Excel and Operating System are you running.

If you click on the formula bar the flashing cursor shows up immediately, in the cell the flashing cursor only shows after double clicking or after the first keystroke.
