Change the default tab space and the line width

After some fixing on setting and the reinstallation of Word, some of my Word settings are different from before.

  1. the line width

In the past, the line width is wider than now. These two pictures are taken at the top left corner.

Before:

After:

As you see, the blinking bar would not touch the "L-shaped" corner. But it will touch it closer than before. How can I change the setting?

  1. The tab space

Before, every time I tapped the tab button, the blinking bar will jump for 2 inches. However, after the reinstallation, it turns to 3 inches. I am sure that the first time I used this function is 2 inches.

I know I can change the tab space by Home > paragraph > > > . But it only works in that file, if I create a new document, it also jumps for 3 inches. How can I set the default tab space to 2 inches rather than 3 inches so that I do not need to set it every time I open a file.

    Ron,

Unfortunately, I don't know much about Chinese language specific settings (see also the other thread at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/double-closing-buttons/c2fe9f91-f458-4548-bd1d-1a695b16267e).

I think it is not a matter of the language because I had the preferred style before even I was using Chinese. This happened since I reinstalled the Word.

By the way, thank you. If you have any methods to solve, could you please tell me? Thanks a lot.

Right-click on your body text style, presumably Normal. Choose Modify.

Click on the Format button in the lower left corner of the dialog and pick Paragraph.

Add a point or two of spacing before.

You could check in an old document to see what the setting is there.

Compare to the old and new documents, their settings are the same but I do not know why their results are different😫.
