Hi Everyone,

There is a Microsoft® Visio® Plan 2 MSO (16.0.14228.20216) 64-bit
When I opened a new file with pre-opened stencils I see all stencils , but when I try to search - nothig. How can I fix it?
This problem has been around for several years...

Thank you in advance!

    @Anahaym

    Does this issue occur with other stencils?
    If there is an option to choose units, please try 'US Units' to create a blank drawing.

    Please go to File > Options > Advanced > Scroll down to the bottom, under General section, click "File Locations", check the path of My Shapes.
    By default, it should be C:\Users\<User Name>\Documents\My Shapes. If you have set other paths for templates, stencils, please temporarily remove them for a check
    123815-image.png

    Locate to My Shapes folder and , C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\Visio Content\1033. Make sure they have same files with .vssx format via copying and pasting.

    If the steps above do not work, please go to Control Panel (Large icons View) > Indexing Options > Advanced > File Types tab > At the bottom, select "Index Properties and File Contents" > OK > Rebuild the Index. Please wait some minutes until the process is complete.

    @Emily Hua-MSFT

    • US Metrics didn't help
    • Default Shape folder is "C:\Users\username\OneDrive - Company.name with üöä\Dokumente\My Shapes"
    • copying from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\Visio Content\1033 to "C:\Users\username\OneDrive - Company.name with üöä\Dokumente\My Shapes" didn't help even after re-index.
    • I also set Stensils Path as "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\Visio Content\1033" - didn't help

    Indeed, this does not work, never worked. I have over 10 000 shapes, and I created my own database, I search there, then I can find the right stencil and select the shape. Loooong workaround, but once I have the shapes I use the most, it is not a big thing.

    I mentioned this issue 10 years ago already ...

    I have this issue since years.

    It was partially resolved for a very short period of time some 2-3 years ago, however, since then it is back and no fix is in the horizon...

    I have many shapes and stencils and I waste around 1-2 hours just to find the shapes I need each time I start working on a project.

    Very frustrating, considering the fact the software is pricy, and makes you look for alternatives like Miro...

    This problem is making Microsoft visio very useless.

    Which is very frustrating, Microsoft does not react to this problem which dates back to 2021.

    Maybe they are busy on COVID
