I Cannot Delete a Column from a SharePoint List

Hello,

Not sure if anyone will be able to help me with this.

I have a simple SharePoint List with several columns. One column is of type attachment.

I was doing some work in migrating the list to a Teams channel when I encountered that the attachment column couldn't be renamed, added to, or deleted.

It can be hid/unhid but that's it.

I would like to delete it and create another attachment column.

Please advise,

bb

    Dear BB,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Per the description shared, I would like to summarize your requirement i.e., you would like to delete the default Attachment column in the SharePoint Online List.

If my understanding of your requirement is correct, I would like to let you know that it's not possible to delete the Atttachment column but you can disable it so that it won't show the Attachments column in the List Form.

Open the List> Settings> List Settings> Advanced Settings

After disabling it when you edit or create a new item:

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Hi Mia,

I still would like to have the ability to add attachments to the list.

How can I do this? I know where the disable feature is and I have toggled it before to try and get the attachments to work.

    Thanks,

    bb

    Dear BB,

Can I confirm whehter you want to disable the default attachments and create a new Hyperlink column in the SharePoint Online list? If so, as far as I know it's not possible to create attachment column apart from the default one, where you can only create a Hyperlink column and upload your files to your personal OneDrive, then create a shared link to use in the Hyperlink column.

If this is not sitaution, please post back to us with the more detailed information, so we can better understand the scenario and guide you in right direction.

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Hi Mia,

I want to be able to add attachments; therefore, I do NOT want to disable the attachments for this list.

    Please see the following screenshots.

Screenshot 2 shows that I can't add any attachments even though Screenshot 4 shows that attachments are enabled for this list.

Screenshots 1 and 3 should also provide background information.

    Thanks,

    bb

    Dear BB,

Thanks a lot for sharing the detailed inforamtion with the screenshots.

As per the screenshots, I understand that you are not able to insert an attachment when you click on the item in the Microsoft Lists In your screenshot 2, can you please click on the Edit all and see whether you can insert an attachment?

Moreover, when I notice the Reserve column in your screenshot 2, can I know whether you have customized the List Form with Power Apps? If not, please try to open the list in the InPrivate browser and see whehter you can click on the attachments by hovering the mouse on it and clicking it.

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,
