Activating Power Query Editor in Excel for Mac

Question

According to this Microsoft Support page and various third party sources, Excel for Mac users should be able to activate Power Query Editor assuming they have opted into the Office Insider Program. I have followed these instructions to opt into the Insider program by setting my Update Channel to Beta, which apparently should enable me to download the additional features to activate Power Query Editor. However, after running Microsoft AutoUpdate, it says that Excel is fully up-to-date on my computer and there are no options for me to download these additional features.

Is anyone else running Excel for Mac experiencing similar issues? Has anyone found a solution?

I am running Microsoft Excel version 16.62. I have the most up-to-date version of Mac OS. According to all Microsoft documentation on this topic, I should be able to access these features, so I'm not sure what's going wrong.

Greetings! Thanks for posting in Microsoft forum.

According to the support article, Get Data (Power Query) feature is only available to Microsoft 365 subscribers.

Version 16.62 (22061100) is the current production version, and version 16.63 (Build 22061407) is Insider Beta version. I have checked in the beta version 16.63 of Microsoft 365 subscription, and I can see Get Data feature, screenshot below for reference.

May I know which subscription/license of Office for mac you are using? Please provide us with the screenshot of About Excel prompt. To get the screenshot, open Excel, go to the Excel menu and choose About Excel. We will help you find a way to figure this out.

The current insider build is 16.63 22062300

You are running the current channel build, not the insider build.

Check your license type. On the Menu Barn choose Excel > About Excel to display your license information. Does it have the word subscription in the license?

I understand you are a Microsoft 365 subscriber and have V16.62, still Get Data (Power Query) is not visible. In this blog (comments section), some customers mentioned some suggestions that helped them resolve the issue, please check the blog and see if this works for you too.

If the issue remains, please provide us with the screenshot of About Excel prompt and the Data tab. To get the screenshot, open Excel, go to the Excel menu and choose About Excel.
