Custom SP List Headers Disabled??

Anonymous
2023-04-13T13:39:46+00:00

As of this morning (April 13, 2023), all of the custom list headers I added to my SharePoint page have reverted back to the name of the original list.

I tried to manually update and republish but all lists go back to their original name. Is this a bug to be fixed or have the features changed again?

This is VERY annoying and degrades the UX significantly.

    Dear Christopher,

Thanks for your updates and confirmation.

I just refresh the page and it seems that I can reproduce the issue in our environment. The title of the page may not be changed immediately but it will become the original list name after some time.

I think that it may be something source code issue in the web part and I'm afraid that the issue may involve the related team to be fixed directly.

I suggest you contact the administrator in your company or organization and let him open a support ticket to our related team as soon as possible by the steps in the following article.

Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

Sorry for that our category may have limited resources on further fixing the issue from our side.

Thanks for your understanding and have a nice day!

    Sincerely,

    Cliff | Microsoft Community Moderator

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I checked the Version History on the primary page in question. It shows only I have made edits.

I have not yet tried to clear cache, mostly because of the reset time it will require for me elsewhere. Not out of the question though.

I had another user inside my org try and edit the web part headers and they had the same experience as follows:

    • Sporadically we were able to successfully edit a web part title and republish
    • Adding a redundant web part works initially for a rename/republish, but when the old one is deleted and the page is republished, the new one reverts to the default
    • If we edit only one at a time it will stick at first, but once we try to edit more web part titles on the page and republish, all web parts revert to their original List/Library titles
    • This is consistent across multiple team pages and lists

    Perhaps useful background:

    • The main List I am attempting to rename has approx 15 different views set up
    • I use about 10 of those views on display in web parts at various spots in our SP environment
    • Often I use the same list in multiple views on the same page
    • The issues described for embedded Lists is also happening with an embedded Doc Library web part
    • Until this week, I have never experienced this problem

    Dear Christopher,

Thanks for your updates and confirmation.

I did a test and it seems that I can't reproduce the page and the title of the list web part stays.

May I know whether there are some other people having the permissions to edit the page? Could you check the page version history at your side to confirm whether the page has been edited by other people?

If it is convenient, I suggest you clear the browser cache, remove and re-add the web part and then do a test again in your environment to see the result.

Thanks for your effort and time!

    Sincerely,

    Hello Cliff,

I had applied custom list titles through the standard page editing interface. I clicked into the default list title above my web part, chnged the name to something more applicable, saved/published and voila!

Today I checked my page and all of those web parts had reverted to the list name and would not take an updated name for the web part. In the below image, I had changed "Central Brand Reporting Matrix" to say "Recently Updated Reports" but it wouldn't stick so I added a text header above the list

    Dear Christopher,

How do you customize the list header? Do you add a list web part and use CSS to do that on a modern site page?

If it is convenient, could you provide the code you are using and some screenshots showing the issue in your environment for our confirmation and for us to do test?

Note: Remove any private information before uploading the screenshots.

Thanks for your effort and time!

    Sincerely,
