Cannot Save Macro-Enabled Workbook After Trusting Macros AND Reparing AND Reinstalling

I have been working on this problem for going on 3 hours now trying to find a solution. I can feel the fabric of my sanity unwinding.

Error window: "You are attempting to save a file type (Excel 2007 and later Macro-Enabled Workbooks and Templates) that has been blocked by your File Block settings in the Trust Center."

Product: Microsoft Office 365

Version: Excel V2301 (Build 16026.20146 Click-to-Run)

  • I have trusted everything short of lethal force in the trust center settings.
  • I have disabled all add-ons and add-ins
  • I have spent 30 minutes waiting for office to "repair" everything
  • I have even uninstalled completely every app and reinstalled for -no joke- an hour

Nothing. Nothing at all, please someone help. I work with excel every day and this is truly leading me to violent thoughts toward my subscription.

    Hello Dylan Holtrey

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I am aware of the present situation is that you have a Marco-Enabled Workbook but appears "Error window: "You are attempting to save a file type (Excel 2007)".

Could you please share with me some pictures of your Trust Center. This could let me see how these options checked. Based on the description in the following Microsoft Learn article, please try clearing these checkboxes as shown below:

Additionally, see the answers from OssieMac's reply in the following thread, **** click here:

    1. By selecting open, Excel blocks this file type or opens in Protected View
    2. By selecting Save, Excel prevents saving in this file type.

If clearing the checkbox does not apply to your problem, we may need to modify Group Policy as described in the second step of the Microsoft Learn article (Based on the version of Windows Pro)

Feel free to post back if any updates.

Okay this one is on me, I didn't realize the box check marks meant to block the saving and opening of the specified file types.

    Thank you so much!
