MS Word Predictive Text is missing.

I have:

Microsoft 365 Family Subscription

Already reinstalled it.

Updated it.

My Surface 8 has it.

My laptop does NOT have it (this is the problem)

Yes, I know where it was supposed to be in either the status bar (not there) or in files/options, etc. etc.

    Hi

I'm AnnaThomas and I'd be happy to help you with your question. In this Forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

Sorry for the trouble this might have caused. If predictive text is missing in MS Word, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check if predictive text is enabled: Go to "File" > "Options" > "Proofing" > "AutoCorrect Options" > "AutoCorrect" tab. Make sure the "suggest words when typing" option is checked.

Reset MS Word settings: Sometimes, a corrupted MS Word setting can cause predictive text to disappear. To reset MS Word settings, close MS Word, press "Windows key + R," type "winword.exe /safe" in the "Run" dialog box, and click "OK." This will open MS Word in safe mode. Now, go to "File" > "Options" > "Trust Center" > "Trust Center Settings" > "Reset all Trusted Locations" and click "OK."

I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.

    Best Regards,

    AnnaThomas

The option was checked by default. Still no predictive text box option appeared. And 'Trust Center Settings' isn't available in safe mode.

    Hello,

Unfortunately, I don't have any further troubleshooting to offer.

There are many knowledgeable users active on the forum and I hope that someone else can offer further insight into your issue.

    Thanks

Are you sure that the subscription version of Office is installed on your laptop (because perpetual licenses do not support the newer features)? Check File > Account for product name and version.

Note that there is also a Text Suggestions feature provided by Windows, and you may be able to use that one instead. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/enable-text-suggestions-in-windows-0bf313ca-c992-4173-aa5f-8341d3953498.

Already checked that. MS 365, like it says on the tin.

Also, I hate the predictive text via Windows. It's a bit clunky to use vs. the one in Word. Windows, you have to manually click the options whereas Word, you hit tab as you type when the prediction appears.
