Append Rows in excel using Index Numbers

Hello there!

I'm having a challenge with getting some work done on Microsoft Excel.

I have an attendance table with lots of data. It has 5256 rows but they belong to only 1882 people; each with an index number (1 - 1882).

For example, index 4 has 5 instances (rows). I would like the 5 rows to be joined into a single row (placing the 5 instances in a single file) without the values getting merged in one cell.

So, in the end, I should end up with only 1882 rows.

Thanks

Tried this but couldn't make headway.

    I do appreciate though.

I posted more detailed information on my situation to Jeovany maybe it'll give you a clearer perspective.

    Thanks

Try the link to the file (below) - I used the formula technique that I showed before, but I converted to values.

    File

There were some parent indexes that had up to 13 instances rather than 2 or 5, so some of the rows are pretty long.

Please, find in the link a workbook with a Power Query solution to your problem https://we.tl/t-sI0HfdIh4z

One line/row per student, all the info/record in columns

I hope this helps you and gives a solution to your problem

Thank you so much for this.

The output is the way I want it. But I did notice about 200+ more rows than expected.

Can you kindly help me with a more detailed explanation of the steps I should take to arrive at the same result as you did?

    Thanks

    Hello,

Thank you for your time on this.

The last sheet (All Data) on your file has the same issue I faced; the total number of students is about 1882 so the index should be about that but I ended up with 5000+

Therefore we should have the attendance have the same number of rows so it can be merged with the Child_record sheet and give us a final sheet with the students and their attendance.

    Kindly check Bernie's file.

But I also want to try and learn other methods so if you can get it to work using a different approach kindly assist.

    Thank you.
