Hello folks,

I am getting error while trying to add external (gmail) account to the existing distribution list? I am not the administrator but have delegated control over the distribution list and can add our own domain email accounts but not the external. I have tried adding them as contact but no luck.

The administrator can add it via back end of O365 exchange panel somehow.

the error is "office 365 error Couldn't find object "". Please make sure that it was spelled correctly or specify a different object."

Kindly help
Thank you

    Hi @Syed ,

I have tried adding them as contact but no luck.

By this, do you mean you tried adding the external email addresses as contacts in your Outlook client? If this is the case, then it's the expected behavior because as mentioned by Andy, the external users have to be added as mail contacts first in order to be added into a distribution group.

For more information, we can refer to the document below:
Add a user or contact to a distribution group
The video in the document shares the instructions about adding an external account into a distribution group.

Its not possible to an external user into a distribution group via outlook directly unless the external user is stored in Active Directory as a mail contact.
