SharePoint - Access request emails

Hello,

One of the two designated 'Team Site Owners' is not currently receiving access request emails from SharePoint. Within this site, there are two owners: User1, who is successfully receiving emails, and User2, who is not.

An access request was sent on the 26^th^ September, but it failed to send an email notification for User2, whereas User1 received the email as expected.

Strangely, former owner (User3), who is now a shared mailbox on an unlicensed account, is still receiving access request emails. User2 has access to this mailbox and confirmed the access request through User3's mailbox.

I conducted a message trace within Exchange Admin Online and identified that ******@sharepointonline.com generated an access request email addressed to both User1 and User3.

Upon a thorough review of the configuration, no email address listed to be receiving emails. Instead, it should go to Team Site Owners.

Is there another method on how to set-up access requests emails for the whole tenant rather than specific sites as I wonder if there is a setting overriding this.

Thanks,

M

    Hi Waqas.

Thank you for confirming. As mentioned, it generated to User 3 who is a shared mailbox who is no longer a Team Site Owner.

    Dear Matt Vikes,

    Good day!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together on your concern and move towards a resolution path.

I understand your concern and to my knowledge, the Setup of the Access Requests in the SharePoint Online can’t be done on the tenant level. Moreover, the behavior you are observing with the User 2 and User 3 is not an expected behavior and I would like to suggest you try the following steps to check the behavior:

    1. Open the SharePoint Online site where the user is having the problem> Settings> Site Permissions> Advanced Permission Settings.
    2. Open the Site Name – Members Group> In the end of the URL, change 5 to 0> Click Enter.
    3. In the People and Groups page, select the User 2 and User 3> Site Actions> Delete this user from the site collection.
    4. Now wait for some time and re-add the user 2 as a Site Owner> Check whether the User 2 is receiving the emails for Access Requests.

If still the same issue, I believe the problem need to be further investigated by the related development team. So, I suggest you raise a support ticket from the Office 365 admin center, where the related team will investigate the problem further by collecting the HAR logs.

Note: To create a support ticket, you need to have admin privileges and if you aren’t admin of your Office 365 organization, please contact the admin of creating a new ticket.

Apologies for redirecting you to the related development team support as the moderators in this community have limited resources to collect and investigate the HAR logs, and to get the fast and better assistance we requested for it.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia
