MS Form not syncing data responses

Hello,

I created a form and excel workbook in One Drive but the responses only sync when the workbook is open. When it's closed and I open it the next day, responses don't come in and I have to input them manually. Why is it not syncing when the workbook is closed or updating when I open it?

Thanks

    Dear WeeblesQ,

    Good day!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together and try to move in the resolving direction.

Generally, when the responses submitted by the responders in the cloud form are synced automatically to the Excel workbook but since you mentioned the responses Excel workbook in the OneDrive in not showing the recent responses in the Form, I would like to confirm whether you have made any changes to the responses Excel workbook in the OneDrive.

If not and you are occurring the problem, please try to sync the responses to a new workbook and see whether the new responses submitted to the Form are showing in the new responses Excel workbook in OneDrive.

Open the problematic form in the Microsoft Forms> Responses> Click on three dots beside Open in Excel> Sync all responses to a new workbook

If the problem still persists, can you please check whether the problem happens with a specific form or all forms in your Microsoft Forms?

Thanks for your patience and understanding. Have a good day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia

    Hi Sophia!

Thanks so much for your response. No changes were made to the responses Excel workbook in OneDrive. And the issue does not occur when creating new forms with new workbooks. The issue only seems to be happening with this one particular workbook that has fallen out of sync. It only syncs when the workbook is open and it started about a month ago. Why is it disconnecting when the workbook is closed? It doesn't update when I open it and I have to manually input any responses that came in while the workbook was closed.

Is there a way to copy the workbook and sync the form to it? If I sync to a new workbook I will lose my flows and automation that reference the document. Or is there a way to resync the workbook?

    Dear Weebles,

Thanks for writing back and updating with us. Apologies for the delay in the response.

As per the further updates, I believe the problem could be caused due to the corrupted responses workbook because the responses workbook should be connected with the Form even when it’s closed.

Since you don’t want to proceed with syncing the responses to the new workbook because of the Automation flows will be lost, I would like to I suggest you raise a support ticket from the Office 365 admin center, where the related team will collect the logs and find out the cause of the problem. Note: To create a support ticket, you need to have admin privileges and if you aren’t admin of your Office 365 organization, please contact the admin of creating a new ticket.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a good weekend ahead.

    Best Regards,
    Sophia

    Hi Sophia!

I actually got it resolved now. Turns out you can't manually make any changes to the workbook once it's created and syncing. In order to get it to re-sync you have to delete anything you manually added to the workbook after it was originally created.
