How do I change my default "save as file type" from saving as a .png to saving as a .jpeg, when saving a picture in Windows 11?

How do I change my default "Save as File Type" from saving as a .png instead of saving as a .jpeg, when saving a picture in Windows 11?

When you do a "Save as File Type" the default always saves an image as a .png format rather than a .jpg format. All images I "Save As" are .jpg image files. Why can't I set the "Save as File Type" default, as .jpg rather than .png format in Windows 11? Jpg format files are all I use and it would be nice if the defaul would be .jpg NOT .png File Format.

    Hello Vinnie C.,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We notice that your query is about saving a picture into .jpeg file format.

This post was added on PowerPoint category. To ensure that we address your concern correctly, as Office support, we would like to inform you that saving a PowerPoint presentation/slide can be on file format .jpeg.

Should you be referring to a different application or feature on your Windows 11 like Print Screen, Snipping Tool or picture creator or editing app. Please refer to the application's settings for file format or reach out to their support team.

For consultation about the Print Screen and Snipping Tool that are built in apps to Windows PC, please let me know so we can move your concern to the right category.

    Sincerely,

    Kathy A.
