Excel online add-in keeps appearing after I deleted it

I have mistakenly added a "stock connector" add in to my excel file. Then I removed it from the Excel add in tab online and refreshed my add ins. Everytime I open the same file, I get this prompt to install the add-in I already removed. How do I stop this from happening?

BTW, if I start the same file on my excel desktop app from onedrive where it's saved, I get the same issue. If I close that prompt and reopen the file from the excel desktop app, I don't get the prompt. The prompt seem to appear again only after I open the file on the excel online version from Onedrive.

Screenshot of the prompt I get below.

Stock connector is not listed anywhere in the trust center, but keeps on popping up.

I had the exact same problems as you, with the exact same add-in. I just spent like 4 hours trying to fix it and I think I fixed it. this is what worked for me:

open excel. click "File", click "account", the click "switch account". it turns out I can login to office with two difference email addresses and I had to switch to the second email address. and then i deleted the add-in in one of the standard ways that everyone was telling us and that worked. that did it for me. i really hope it works for you too.

to clarify: my office 365 subscription is tied was tied to one email address, but excel still lets you login under various user email addresses. and that was the source of the whole problem: that i have TWO user accounts that use excel under this sub. and i was trying to remove the add in whilst logged in under only one of those email addresses. give it a shot.

even though i finally succeeded, this is outrageous how unclear and nearly-impossible it is to remove these add ins.

After some reinstallations with office365 the problem has solved itself.

Honestly, I'm too scared to do that lest it remove some other tool that I am relying on. in particular, I use Office 365's built-in stock-info tool very heavily and i'm afraid if i do what you're suggesting that that tool might be affected.

Your instructions worked! Perfectly! Tysm! I bit the bullet and did your fix and it worked immediately and did not cause any problems with Office 365's built-in stock tool. It feels so good to have a clean Excel once again. Tysm, 👑!
