I wanted to confirm that I now have a batch of tasty muffins but I cannot merge cells in a table. Just to note that 350F is 180C or gas mark 4.
Merging Table Cells In Loop
Hi Microsoft buddies, in Loop, is there a way to merge cells?
I have inserted a table and want to merge cells in the left column to hold an image and use cells in the right column to add a list of hyperlinks and/or comments on the image since there is no whiteboard. This is like the old days of using tables for layouts in HTML. Can I do this?
Thanks for any tips.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community
In Loop, you can indeed merge cells in a table. Allow me to ask:
- Is this happening to other files? or just specific file?
- What error message are you getting?
- Is the file shared by someone else? or originally created by you?
Let’s tackle this step by step:
- Insert a Table:
- First, insert your table with the desired number of rows and columns.
- Make sure you have the left column for images and the right column for hyperlinks/comments.
- Merging Cells in the Left Column (for Images):
- To merge cells in the left column, follow these steps:
- Click on the cell you want to merge.
- Hold down the Shift key.
- Click on the adjacent cells you want to merge.
- Right-click and choose Merge Cells from the context menu.
- Now, your left column cells are merged, creating space for your image.
- To merge cells in the left column, follow these steps:
- Adding Hyperlinks/Comments in the Right Column:
- For the right column, each cell can contain a hyperlink or a comment.
- Click on the cell in the right column where you want to add a hyperlink or comment.
- Use the Insert menu to add a hyperlink or comment as needed.
- Styling Your Table:
- Customize your table by adjusting cell borders, font sizes, and other formatting options.
- You can also resize the merged cells in the left column to fit your image.
Remember, this approach is similar to the old days of using tables for layouts in HTML, but in Loop, you have more flexibility. Feel free to experiment and create the layout that suits your needs!
If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, don’t hesitate to ask!
Thank you,
Vince

2024-03-12T21:47:20+00:00 Hello,
Thanks for your quick response. I am the Loop workspace creator and adding a table and rows/columns is easy enough. It's when I need to do something a little more sophisticated such as merge cells. See below for an example of what happens when I select cells and try to locate the merge function from the context menu:
I'd love to have the rich text editor that this window offers!
